Returning to King William Road on Saturday 20 January, the Unley Gala will feature two Gospo Collective sets on the main stage for the 5 – 11pm event, in between three separate runway shows that showcase the latest fashion from Unley’s retailers.
The main stage will also see the crowning of Unley Gala’s Legends of Lycra competition, while DJ Filip With An F will pump out feel-good beats throughout the evening.
Dotted along King William Road will also be two DJ Pods, hosted by DJs David Parry and Felicity Aukett.
The Unley Gala Kids Zone will keep kids entertained with paper flower craft by Little Picassos and giant bubbles from Marty McBubble.
More than 40 favourite retailers, cafes, bars and restaurants will also fill King William Road to tantalise taste buds, including GANG GANG, Good Gilbert, ShoSho, NIDO, Curler Moe’s Popcorn and Fairy Floss, Godi La Vita, St Louis, Betty’s Burgers, Tomich Wines, and more.
Fashion runway shows will feature 10 of Unley’s finest fashion retailers – sejour club, Frock Me Out, Eco D, Denim & Cloth, Ecru, The Ark, The Loft St Georges, Wild Child StyleLab, Binny and Shouz.
City of Unley Mayor Michael Hewitson expects more than 20,000 people to attend the Unley Gala, which is returning after a four-year break.
“Unley Gala is South Australia’s most loved summer street party and a fantastic celebration of all things food, fashion, entertainment and cycling,” he said.
“We are very excited to be providing a tremendous line-up of entertainment for this year’s event, no matter your age or interests.
“From live music and fashion parades to DJs and kids’ games – there’s something for everyone at the Unley Gala, as well as the many stallholders where you can eat, drink and shop throughout the night.”
This year’s Unley Gala will provide a significant boost to businesses, with the event expected to inject approximately $1 million into the local economy.
King William Road Traders Association chair Sam Mingoia said the event was a popular drawcard for residents and visitors from near and far.
“We’re delighted the Unley Gala is returning to King William Road to shine a light on the quality restaurants we have, while providing a chance for our fashion retailers to celebrate summer style,” Mr Mingoia said.
The Unley Gala will be held from 5 – 11pm on Saturday 20 January between McGowan Avenue and the Park/Mitchell Street intersection.
The event is a prelude to the final stage of the Santos Tour Down Under, which will begin on King William Road at 11.10am the next day, Sunday 21 January.
