No more potty panic: The Adelaide mum revolutionising toilet training

No more potty panic! Australian mum and creator Monica Jones is helping parents and toddlers across the country say goodbye to toilet training stress with her newest innovation — Go Time Potty Time.

Launching this October, Go Time Potty Time is a first-of-its-kind toilet training system from the award-winning children’s brand My Binkie Bear. Designed to make toilet training easier, calmer, and way more fun, it’s transforming one of parenting’s most challenging milestones into an imaginative, play-based adventure.

Monica understands the ups and downs of parenting better than most.

“Even now, as a parent to teenagers and adult children, I still find myself second-guessing decisions I made, wondering if I did enough, or did it ‘right’,” she says.

As a mum who has navigated anxiety, depression, and sensory challenges with her own children, Monica has built My Binkie Bear around one core belief — that children thrive when they’re listened to, understood, and given ownership over their transitions.

From pacifiers to potties

My Binkie Bear is already loved by families for its award-winning “Bye Bye Pacifier” weaning system and the Cuddle & Carry Backpack. Now, with Go Time Potty Time, Monica and her team are tackling another big toddler milestone — toilet training — with empathy and imagination.

“After a year of working with parents navigating pacifier weaning, we repeatedly heard the same frustrations around toilet training: confusion about readiness, inconsistent advice, overwhelm, and pressure,” she says.

“I saw a gap, not just for another potty product, but for a holistic, emotionally intelligent system that supports toddlers through play-based learning at their pace.”

Go Time Potty Time

At the heart of Go Time Potty Time is a beautifully illustrated children’s book, where Binkie Bear and his forest friends guide little learners through fun, practical potty adventures. The story helps toddlers recognise body sensations, practice pulling pants up and down, sitting on the potty, wiping, flushing, and washing hands — all while encouraging confidence and independence.

“Our system integrates readiness cues, behavioural change tools, storytelling, sensory supports, hygienic wipes, and a play-based structure all in one. Many systems focus on just one piece — potty design, rewards, training pants, or timers, but ours addresses the full emotional and developmental journey.”

And the highlight? The Wizzle Fizzle — affectionately known as “a bath bomb for the potty”! This clever paw-shaped fizzer reacts to wee (check it out below!), turning toilet time into a colourful, sensory-rich experience that delights toddlers while easing anxiety.

Child-centred learning

Backed by developmental psychology and endorsed by child behaviour specialists, Go Time Potty Time is not just fun — it’s science-informed.

Play Therapist Dr Kate Renshaw explains that toilet training can be one of the more stressful learning experiences for children and their parents alike.

“Communicating needs, following multi-step sequences, fear around falling into the toilet or the flushing sound are just some of the complexities toddlers have to navigate with this transition.”

She adds that for parents, stress about readiness or regressions can make things even harder.

“The key is often stepping back, reducing pressure, and remembering that this is ultimately a developmental process that will happen when the child is truly ready.”

Dr Renshaw says My Binkie Bear’s approach creates balance — offering guidance for parents while giving children the independence they crave.

“Through the magic of imaginative play, My Binkie Bear helps children reframe this developmental challenge as an exciting journey of discovery. This supportive approach nurtures resilience and self-efficacy, empowering children to tackle future milestones with greater ease.”
