Naomi Murrell SWIM makes waves with Coco & Shy collab

The promise of Summer looms large in Australian culture. We crave rugged coastlines, crashing waves and the salty feeling of sun on our skin. This collective desire for an escape to the ocean was the impulse for a new creative collaboration between Adelaide designer Naomi Murrell, and Port Elliot swimwear label Coco & Shy, by Susi Benger.

Debut six piece swim collection

A shared sensibility for feminine simplicity, combined with sustainable production values makes their sunny swimwear line a joy to work on together. The debut six piece collection, available from December 1 2021 at Naomi Murrell, radiates positive energy and inclusive body confidence – a common thread in both designers’ work.

Sassy and sensible swimwear for all shapes

Flattering, comfortable cuts that look good on a variety of figures, won’t fall off in the surf and can be worn with jeans for all your *hot night – summer in the city* moments, offer versatility and performance for women of all ages.

The decision to work with Italian Econyl (a recycled nylon sourced from reclaimed fishing nets), in delicious colours that pop and provide SPF50 UV protection, ensures the looks are both sassy and sensible.

Given the diversity of female forms and the body hugging nature of swimwear, it is often considered one of the most challenging garment categories to design for. By joining forces, the like minded duo are able to draw upon Naomi’s eye for a sharp cut and her art direction skills, with Susi’s swim-specific expertise in pattern making and sewing proving themselves essential in the development process.

After 9 months of sampling, road-testing and refining, the team are thrilled to launch the ultimate in silky smooth, yet firm and supportive two piece and one piece styles.

All are locally made by Susi on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

The Naomi Murrell with Coco and Shy collection launches Wednesday, 1 December at 10am.
