REVIEW: Inside Santa’s Wonderland

KIDDO reviewer, Lauren, took her kiddo to an afternoon session of fun at Santa's Wonderland.

We picked the perfect day to experience Santa’s Wonderland! The 30-something-degree day allowed us to escape the heat and enter a snowy Santa’s Wonderland! Plus, our 10am Monday session meant we were free to roam and enjoy the experience at a slower pace, away from the crowds.

My four-year-old daughter, Zara, has been to Santa’s Wonderland since birth, and each time, this iconic event has something new to spark her interests at the time. Last year was the bouncy, ball pits; this year, she was old enough to enjoy the Christmas Activity Trail. The sense of satisfaction on her face when she collected all 10 stamps was sweet to see!

The trail gives little festivegoers the chance to embark on a 10-stop adventure! From colouring stations to letter-writing and storytelling, this trail promises a magical experience for everyone. Zara especially enjoyed collecting the magic reindeer feed, which she has already eagerly left out for Santa’s reindeer, plus a side of curdled milk and stale cookies! Enjoy, Santa!

With more than 12 exciting rides for families and kids, there’s something for every thrill-seeker! If your kiddo is more adventurous, hop aboard the train, strap into the mini rollercoaster or hit the ice rink (without hitting the floor, of course!)

The live shows were also a hit and drew a big crowd around the main stage, with the kiddos cross-legged and eyes glued to the stage.

With school coming to an end for another year, expect the crowds to get a bit busier. Nevertheless, Santa’s Wonderland is a fabulous treat for the senses before Christmas Day. Not only is the jam-packed program full of fun activities and amusement rides, it’s also educational and interactive.

Zara especially loved seeing her colourful snowman come to life on the interactive colouring screen! My husband needed to be pulled away from the activity, too. And how could I forget the gingerbread decorating Zara wanted her Dad to do. It was worth the extra $10 seeing Dad being told what to do, with Zara carefully supervising and directing where each eye and button should go.

Zara went to bed a little later than usual the night before, so she was tired halfway through the experience. That’s when we decided to check out Santa’s Wonderland’s new Quiet Zone, back again this year with SACARE. The retreat to rest was much appreciated as it even gave me a chance to rest my feet!

When it came time to leave, kids gathered near the entrance where a snow machine was set up for the kiddos to run around and chase the falling snow. Even my six-month-old was mesmerised by the swirls of white above him.

While you can attend your session after the start-time, I’d recommend taking in the full three hours of fun! There’s so much to see; you won’t know where to start! We can’t wait to go back next year. Maybe I can get Zara on the ice rink – or even Dad!
