Glow Winter Arts Festival celebrates a decade of brilliance

This July, Glow Winter Arts Festival returns to light up the night with an extraordinary celebration of its tenth anniversary.

From Thursday 18th of July to Sunday 21st of July the historic Central Park in Malvern East will be transformed into a breathtaking wonderland, offering a free program of mesmerising outdoor light and sound installations that ignite the imagination.

Across four magical nights, over 30,000 visitors are expected to explore five inspiring global installations created by renowned Australian artists. Among them, Sydney-based Maurice Goldberg will present Choosing Paradise featuring a 14-meter inflatable light sculpture that integrates video and music. Also from Sydney, the award-winning artist Atelier Sisu will showcase their Ephemeral Collection a stunning array of gigantic bubble clusters some spanning 16 meters.

From Victoria, Skunk Control will enchant audiences with ‘Encircled Enlightenment’ where 42 luminous flowers rise from a watering bed, reaching heights up to 3 meters. They will also present Delicate Deliberations a shimmering installation of over 1,000 light-transmitting flowers. Lastly, South Australian creative studio Pulsing Heart invites you to become a conductor in their interactive music-making playground Hexadeca featuring bespoke glowing seats.

“Glow Winter Arts Festival has become a beloved tradition in Stonnington, bringing our community together and attracting visitors from near and far,” says Mayor Cr Joe Gianfriddo City of Stonnington. “As we celebrate ten years of illumination, we look forward to welcoming everyone to experience the magic, creativity and wonder that this festival brings to our beautiful city.”

Patrons will be treated to local food and beverages, perfect for the whole family. Enjoy gourmet toasted sandwiches or indulge your sweet tooth with treats from Rockin Donuts, including traditional jam, salted caramel and Nutella varieties. Adults can enjoy soul-warming beverages from Big Shot Cafe & Bar, served from their charming 1969 Citroën HY van, featuring whiskey hot chocolates, mulled wine and craft beer.

The Glow Winter Arts Festival 2024 promises an unforgettable experience, where larger-than-life installations and ethereal roving creatures await, immersing audiences in a night-world of wonder and light. The Glow Winter Arts Festival at Central Park, 148 Burke Rd, Malvern East runs from Thursday 18th of July to Sunday 21st of July, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm (Friday and Saturday until 11:00 pm).
