The Adelaide Central Market will bring a festive feast and Christmas cheer to local charity Catherine House supplying all the fresh produce for Christmas lunch.

For the fourth year, traders will supply all produce for lunch for 70 women to enjoy at the Centre on Christmas Day.

Market traders involved in contributing food productsto Catherine House include Con’s Fine Foods, O’Connell’s Meats, Angelakis Bros. Seafood, Jagger Fine Foods, Providore, Skala Bakery and Wills and Daniel.

Catherine House is the State’s only recovery-based service for women experiencing homelessness.

Adelaide Central Market General Manager Fabienne Reilly said the Market was delighted to support Catherine House once again this festive season.

“After another challenging year, we are absolutely thrilled to support Catherine House again in 2023,” she said.

Our traders are proud of the partnership they have fostered with Catherine House over the past few years. It’s truly special to have the opportunity to donate fresh produce and speciality foods so that women doing it tough can enjoy Christmas lunch with all the trimmings.

Catherine House Manager – Philanthropy and Engagement, Jaylee Cooper said Catherine House was thrilled by the continued generosity of the Adelaide Central Market traders.

“The past 12 months has seen an unprecedented increase in the cost of living, and food insecurity is sadly affecting many South Australian households. This, together with the current rental crisis and lack of affordable housing, has seen an increase in people, particularly women, finding themselves homeless for the first time. The demand for our services continues to be at an all-time high in our 35-year history.”

“For the fourth year in a row, women who are staying at Catherine House and previous clients who may have nowhere to go, will join us for a beautiful Christmas Day Lunch, which will be incredibly special for them. Knowing there is a community that cares means so much on what can be a very challenging day”.
