As one of the biggest public parades in the Southern Hemisphere, the Christmas Pageant is a treasured tradition for many South Australian families—and this year, the spectacle will be bigger and more magical than ever with the reveal of two brand-new floats designed to enchant children and adults alike.
Meet ‘My Pet Dragon’ – A magical creature with a Christmas twist
Created by Dave Clarke, My Pet Dragon brings fantasy to life in the heart of Adelaide. With its elegant, gliding wings and mythical design, this float captures the spirit of imagination that defines the Christmas season.
Enter ‘Magic Fairyland’ – Where dreams and whimsy come to life
Designed by Katie Schulz, Magic Fairyland is a whimsical wonderland complete with a unicorn, dancing fairies, and tiny woodland creatures. It’s the kind of float that instantly transports you to a place where anything can happen—and where the Christmas magic is alive in every detail.
Months of magic behind the scenes
Pageant Director Brian Gilbertson praised the creative team behind the floats, who work year-round at Stardust Castle—the official home of Pageant float design.
“We’re delighted to welcome My Pet Dragon and Magic Fairyland to the Pageant this year. The elves at Stardust Castle have put a lot of time and effort into making both these floats which will look spectacular in this year’s parade,” says Mr Gilbertson.
“With just one month to go until the 93rd National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant, we can’t wait to see the joy and excitement these new floats will bring to families across the state both at the event and on the Channel 9 broadcast.”
The 2025 National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant is a free event for families of all ages. Whether you’re watching from the city streets or tuning in via Channel 9, the Pageant is a must-do tradition in Adelaide’s festive calendar.
