‘PONY IN THE VINES’
Featuring Gathered (market)
For the family friendly Crush alternative head to Tomich Winery’s Pony in the Vines. The young at heart will delight with; pony rides, face painting and even tractor hay rides through the vineyard. A visual spectacular will also be on offer with the Equestrian SA High Point Show on Saturday and the wonderful Gathered market on Saturday and Sunday!
For the second time, a vineyard horse show will feature as part of the Crush festival, allowing families a taste of country living with style. Hosted by Tomich Wines, the ‘Pony in the Vines’ Equestrian SA High Point Show is part of a weekend long program and is the family pick of the Crush festival, held Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th January.
Tomich Wines Managing Director, Randal Tomich says families will enjoy this rare opportunity to be a front row spectator at a dressage and horse show, as well as participate in fun activities like pony and hay bales rides through the vineyard.
“It’s a pleasure for us to invite families to meet some of our state’s best horses and their riders. My brother and I were lucky enough to grow up on the farm with horses, which have also played a huge part of our own children’s upbringing. We’re really excited that we can make this experience more accessible to the public and help create memories for other families too,” he says.
The winery has also partnered with one of Adelaide’s most popular markets ‘Gathered’. This year, bringing SA owned arts + crafts.
From ‘Gathered’ owner Jenna O’Dell:
‘Gathered started after visiting other markets and events in Adelaide and felt that they were really lacking in atmosphere and experience. I was able to start to see the great talent that we have right here in our doorstep and wanted to make a focus of these great SA makers + creators, rather than bringing anyone from interstate. I have a background in events and was excited to create something new and from scratch and have enjoyed every minute of it.”
The aim of the Pop-Up market is to bring a piece of Gathered to the Adelaide Hills at such a great time of year. A lot of people still think that the Hills is so far away…when it isn’t at all. So what a great way to introduce more SA creatives to the local ‘scene’ by tempting them with wine and adding another experience to the great event that Tomich puts on as part of Crush!
About: The Equestrian SA High Point Show
The Pony in the Vines Equestrian SA High Point Show will showcase South Australia’s finest horses and national equestrian riders, set in the Tomich family’s private vineyard in Woodside. A day of equestrian elegance, this is perfect for horse lovers and families who’ve always wanted to learn more about these magnificent animals.
Over 60 horses will be participating in this qualifying event, which assesses them on being beautifully conformed, of high quality, movement and lovely manners.
The show includes a fancy dress and a novelty component for the horses – think plaited and coloured horse tails, crazy costumes, top hats and ribbons. Riders (aged from five years – senior) will also be dressed up in their official horse showing finery – including hacking jackets, fancy dress and cravats.
