Create your own Chihuly glass creature!

A green dragon statue featuring a vibrant green head and body, showcasing intricate details.
As part of Adelaide Botanic Garden's Chihuly project, young visitors can submit a drawing of a creature that could be turned into beautiful glass artwork by talented South Australian glass artist, Tom Moore.

Known for making amazing, otherworldly creatures (like the amazing creation pictured above!), Moore’s creatures are often hybrids, blending different species, and come from a magical world where nature has taken over the cities.

You might see Glass Potatoes with human eyes, Bug Birds flying above, and even Pufferfish Kangaroos hopping around!

Now it’s your kiddo’s turn! Young artists are invited to draw a creature that could live in the colourful, magical world of Dale Chihuly’s glass art. Picture your kiddo’s creature in the vibrant Red Bamboo Reeds, the lush Macchia Forests or amongst the colourful Mottled Trumpet Flowers, now featuring in Adelaide Botanic Garden’s Chihuly display.

Each month, Moore will choose one lucky winner and bring their creature to life in glass at the JamFactory hotshop. At the end of the exhibition, winners will be able to take home their very own Tom Moore glass creature!

It’s completely free to enter, but parents or carers will need a ticket to enter the conservatory. Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event.

Stay tuned to KIDDO where we’ll feature the winning creatures over the coming months!
