It'll be a deliciously fun time at the Adelaide Central Market's annual Sauce Day!

This exciting event celebrates all things Italian, packed with activities for the whole family. It’s happening on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1, and it’s the perfect chance to dive into the world of Italian food and culture.

“Our Sauce Day has become a favourite tradition for families at the Market,” says Fabienne Reilly, GM of Adelaide Central Market Authority. “It’s a great way to come together, share good food, and enjoy Italy’s wonderful culinary heritage.”

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Sauce-making workshops: Get your hands dirty and learn how to make your own Italian passata using fresh ingredients from the Market. Expert instructors will show you all the secrets to making this tasty sauce from start to finish. (This is a ticketed event, and booking is essential.)

  • Kids’ gnocchi-making: Young chefs-in-the-making can join a fun, hands-on gnocchi-making workshop. They’ll learn to knead, shape, and cook this classic Italian dish while discovering the joy of fresh ingredients. (This is a ticketed event, and booking is essential.)

  • Cooking demos: Watch top chefs Luca Guitto and Gabrielle Pezzimenti from Hotel Indigo show off their culinary skills. Hosted by Elizabeth Barbaro, these demos will teach you how to make traditional Italian dishes and impress with expert tips.

  • Live music: Let the lively sounds of Italian tunes fill the Market as musicians add a cheerful vibe to the celebration.

  • Roving entertainment: Be amused by The Sopranos as they bring their comedy and charm to the Market, keeping everyone laughing and entertained.

  • Trader specials: Explore the Market’s stalls for fantastic offers on fresh produce, speciality ingredients, and authentic Italian goodies.

Tickets for the sauce and gnocchi-making workshops are limited, so make sure to book early!
