The richest single-day golf purse event in Australia will have its fifth season played across four different states, with the final returning to Adelaide once again.
Dubbed ‘the T-20 of golf’ for its short format – run and won in just over three hours – Blitz Golf delivers non-stop action combined with a festival atmosphere. Blitz has seen more than 10,000 attendees since its inception.
Blitz Golf Founder Simon Zybek says the tournament is growing exponentially and expects the 2023-24 series to continue building the event’s success.
“We have no doubt Adelaide will particularly embrace the series as they have in previous seasons being the finals host” says Simon.
The format lends itself perfectly for a twilight event and the central location in the Adelaide CBD is such a unique opportunity that is rarely seen in the world of golf.
The 2023-24 Australian Blitz Golf season will begin in Brisbane on Friday, 29 December, before rounds in Melbourne (Friday 5th January), Yarra Valley (Sunday 7th January), and the NSW Riverina (Sunday 14th January) before the final in Adelaide.
The tournament brings golf professionals and celebrities together in a short format, where in three hours there are just 10 holes over 3 progressively shorter rounds as participants are eliminated. The cuts are increasingly more difficult leading to a winner-takes-all purse that creates maximum excitement and a dramatic conclusion.
For fans, there’s more than just the exciting competition. Non-stop music adds to the drama, while food trucks, bars featuring Coopers beer, Izway Wines, and Little Love Vodka, and fan activations keep everyone entertained.
DJ Justice, Beach Bums, and World Music Group are just some of the entertainment acts confirmed, while live music acts will perform on three unique holes during rounds one and two as part of what is being dubbed the best fan experience for the tournament to date.
A hole-in-one shootout will give 20 fans the chance to win $100,000, the winners selected at random during the Adelaide final. And qualifier events nationwide ahead of the series will create a world-first opportunity for everyday golfers to compete for tournament cash alongside the pros and celebrities.
Professional players will be confirmed in December, while celebrities locked in for the Adelaide final are former Adelaide 36ers basketball champion Brett Maher, Port Adelaide footballers Zak Butters and Ryan Burton, Robbie Cornthwaite of 7News and Triple M’s Andrew Jarman as well as Adelaide Crows footballer Lachie Murphy, with more to be announced.
General admission is free, but upgraded experiences on offer include the Stadium Hole package getting you closer to the action, or joining Club Blitz for an unbeatable four-hour food and beverage package.
Hosted by MC Theo Doropoulos, Blitz Golf is supported by City of Adelaide, Hays IT and Wine Bracketz.
The Blitz Golf BGL Final is on Friday, 19 January 2024 at North Adelaide Golf Club. Gates open at 3pm for a 4pm to 7.30pm run time.
