Hosted by media personality and KickStart for Kids Ambassador Rebecca Morse, the event invites South Australians to skip breakfast for one morning. By doing this, guests get a small but powerful understanding of what thousands of kids experience every day.
Founder Ian Steele OAM explains just how important this event is for the charity’s work:
“This event is one of our most important fundraisers and we’re calling on the Adelaide community, especially those who work in the CBD to join us in supporting kids who need it most”
The morning will also include a talk from Connie Bonaros, KickStart for Kids Ambassador and Member of the Legislative Council of South Australia. She’ll share why tackling child hunger is so important in our state. Guests will hear from other inspiring speakers too—including people whose lives have been changed by KickStart for Kids programs.
After the event, guests can choose to have breakfast—or continue their day without it—experiencing what it’s like to learn, work, and concentrate on an empty stomach.
“It’s a simple way to understand how tough mornings can be for kids who don’t have access to food at home.”
Ian reminds everyone how easy it is to take breakfast for granted, saying, “Most people don’t realise how lucky they are to wake up every morning and thoughtlessly choose what they want for breakfast from a stocked fridge or pantry.”
“The No Breakfast, Breakfast puts things into perspective and helps guests understand their privilege, ultimately giving them a new lease of gratitude to take away with them after raising funds for a cause that needs it.”
Kids, families, schools, workplaces, and community groups are all encouraged to get involved and help fight child hunger in South Australia. Every ticket purchased helps provide breakfast items for children who need them most.
