SALA exhibition: The magic of making art with your kids

Get ready for an art experience like no other! Nothing Is Linear is a heartfelt and creative exhibition that brings together South Australian artist Claire Foord and her two children, Ada and Archibald Foord-Heath, for something really special.

This exhibition isn’t just about paintings on a wall — it’s about the magic of making art together. It’s about feelings, family, and freedom — and it’s open to everyone.

Claire and her kids created these artworks side by side, mixing styles, ideas, and emotions. Some pieces are playful and spontaneous (just like kids!), while others show Claire’s more polished and professional artist side. Put together, it’s a beautiful mix of raw creativity and deep emotion.

The exhibition also explores a big and important feeling — grief — and how art can help us heal and understand difficult things. Through this powerful theme, Claire shares her own personal story of loss in a way that invites kindness, courage, and connection.

Visitors are even invited to get hands-on! There’s a giant collaborative canvas where you can make your mark. Later, Claire will turn it into a future artwork — how cool is that?

At its heart, Nothing Is Linear asks: what happens when we stop trying to colour inside the lines?

This is more than just an art show — it’s a celebration of being yourself, feeling big feelings, and letting your imagination lead the way.
