In the Illuminate Adelaide spotlight: Night Visions

People pose in front of a vibrant green light display, creating a lively atmosphere.
Get ready, explorers! There’s a brand-new adventure coming to town — and it’s unlike anything you’ve seen before! Night Visions is a mind-blowing journey through Adelaide Botanic Garden, set to be the sparkling centrepiece of Illuminate Adelaide 2025.

Created especially for Illuminate Adelaide, Night Visions will turn the gardens into a portal to another world! Picture this: glowing lights, lasers zapping through the trees, giant projections dancing on the leaves, and music that’ll make you feel like you’re in a dream.

Some seriously clever artists from all over — including the UK, Melbourne, Sydney and right here in SA — are teaming up to make it all happen. You’ll see Ficus Avenue and the Bicentennial Conservatory transformed into magical new worlds. There’s even a soundscape made by award-winning composer Jethro Woodward, so you’ll hear the magic as much as you see it!

What to expect

Amelia Kosminsky will turn the Bamboo Walk into a shimmering prism tunnel, Craig Walsh and Cultural Consultant Jack Buckskin are bringing First Nations faces to life through stunning projections, and Robin Fox is set to wow everyone with lasers and sound in the Conservatory. Chris Petridis is all about the wow-factor lighting, and Jayden Sutherland will add visual magic full of emotion and movement.

Illuminate Adelaide Co-founders and Creative Directors, Lee Cumberlidge and Rachael Azzopardi said:
“For our milestone fifth year, we wanted to headline the program with an after-dark adventure that not only takes visitors on an emotional and sensory journey but transports them into parallel realms.”

“We have brought together the unique talents of six visionary artists to create a series of immersive, ‘other worldly’ environments across the garden using thousands of lights, lasers, projections and sound.

“Tree canopies will be transformed into evocative living monuments, walkways will become atmospheric gateways pulsing with colour and sound, and the Bicentennial Conservatory will burst with an array of cutting-edge laser and sound technology.”

Night Visions is on at Adelaide Botanic Garden, 2-20 July 2025; Wed–Thu: 5.30–9.00pm | Fri–Sun: 5.30–9.30pm. The experience is a 2km one-way path, which takes about 60 minutes.
