Calling all DreamBIG memories for 50th birthday bash!

A vibrant crowd gathers, holding colorful banners that create a lively and festive atmosphere.
The Adelaide Festival Centre is celebrating 50 Years of Dreaming Big with a special exhibition, and they want YOUR memorabilia!

From 7 to 31 May, The Galleries at Festival Theatre will host a retrospective look at the history of DreamBIG Children’s Festival (formerly the Come Out Festival) – the world’s longest-running curated children’s arts festival.

If you’ve ever been part of DreamBIG (or Come Out Festival) and have photos, costumes, artwork, or any cool bits of festival history tucked away, this is your chance to share them with the world!

The exhibition will explore the festival’s vibrant 50-year journey, and how it’s sparked creativity in more than 2.5 million kids in South Australia since 1974.

Georgi Paech, DreamBIG’s Festival Director, said: “As DreamBIG celebrates its 50th birthday, we want to include everyone who’s helped shape the festival over the years. If you’ve got a piece of DreamBIG or Come Out history stashed away at home or school, please send it in for this exciting exhibition!”

This year’s DreamBIG Children’s Festival will take place from 7-17 May with the theme I Was, I Am, I Will Be, inviting kids to reflect on their past, present, and future.

The fantastic DreamBIG Parade, a long-standing festival tradition, will kick things off with a grand birthday celebration on 7 May, with school children from across South Australia joining the fun at Adelaide Festival Centre.

Got memorabilia? Whether it’s artwork, costumes, or photos, submit your treasures by Monday 3 March for a chance to have them featured in the exhibition.
