A guide: Glenelg Christmas Pageant

Heading to the Glenelg Christmas Pageant on Sunday (24 November)? Use this as a quick guide to getting around.

The Glenelg Christmas Pageant is back and it’s bigger and better than ever! As pageant-goers line Jetty Road to cheer on the amazing floats, dazzling dancers, and of course, the jolly man in red himself, explore the many other free activities around you.

While the pageant kicks off at 10:30am, there are still a heap of activities to do before and after!

From 9:30am–3pm:

New to the pageant this year is the Young Maker’s Market in Moseley Square, which will be home to a collection of young makers, designers and creatives (aged 10 to 25 years old) showing off their unique handcrafted goods. It’s the perfect spot to support local talent and grab a one-of-a-kind Christmas gift.

The pageant will kick-off at 10:30am at the Jetty RoadThis year will also have a new dedicated sensory space inside the Glenelg Community Centre for visitors who may need some time away from the noise and excitement of the pageant, open from 9am to 12pm.

From 11am–3pm:

  1. Find the face painting on the lawn near the playground by the foreshore.
  2. The AFL Max and Coles Healthy Kicks Activation on the foreshore lawn.
  3. Christmas card making at Glenelg Library.

From 11:30am–3pm:

Once the pageant wraps up, head to the Bay Discovery Centre to visit Santa and Mrs Claus in the Gallery of the Bay. Make sure you get a ticket at the booth under the white marquee near the foreshore playground. Tickets are free and you can take your own photos with Santa. What’s more, there’ll be a special area for families to queue safely in the shade, plus a pram parking bay.

Foodie festivities

All the fun might work up an appetite. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants along Jetty Road to choose from. If you’re after something quick while you wait for Santa, swing by the Rotary Club of Glenelg’s BBQ for a sizzling sausage from 11am–3pm.

The Glenelg Christmas Pageant starts at 10:30am at the Jetty Road intersection with Gordon/Partridge streets and finishes at the end of Colley Terrace at the Anzac Highway roundabout.
