Central to Faith is ‘Our View of a Child’; the unwavering commitment that ensures a child’s perspective is considered in every step and every decision made at the College. Through this lens, children experience a wide range of learning opportunities, and build relationships, connection, purpose, and overall well being.
Through the International Baccalaureate learning framework and intentional wellbeing programs, students are supported to thrive and flourish as they engage with real-life problems, inquire, question and collaborate.
The new question students and staff are asking this term is: “what does a view of a child look like from a puppy’s perspective?!”
Excitement and anticipation has rippled through the community with news that the Faith Lutheran College Junior School will be welcoming a Cobberdog named ‘Pepper’ to the School’s wellbeing team in Term 2. After a dedicated induction phase, Pepper will work alongside staff and students to enhance emotional regulation, social connection and communication, and support students to feel less self-conscious. The special program will grow with Pepper, gradually, thoroughly, and considerately as Faith works with Dogs Connect to ensure Pepper, with the important title of ‘Wellbeing Dog’, becomes a much loved and important member of the community.
As Pepper eagerly wags her tail into her new role at Faith Lutheran College, no doubt she will enrich the College community with warmth, comfort and endless opportunities for growth.
