WOMAD 2021 CONFIRMED!

Four nights, one stage, no clashes! WOMADelaide's 're-imagined' 2021 edition will feature a remarkable selection of Australian headline artists, presented across four sunset concert evenings in a picturesque new Park Lands venue.

Just when you thought that 2020 should be officially put in the bin, they confirm WOMAD for next year and everything seems right with the world again!

That’s right, the producers of the much-loved WOMADelaide festival have confirmed that its 2021 edition will go ahead Friday 5 March until Monday 8 March 2021, in a ‘re-imagined’ format in a new Adelaide CBD Park Lands venue.

Reimagined format in CBD Park Lands

“We are absolutely delighted to announce that in 2021 WOMADelaide will be presenting a unique series of four sunset concert evenings, featuring outstanding Australian headline artists, from Friday 5 March until Monday 8 March in King Rodney Park,” said Ian Scobie, WOMADelaide Director.

Sunset concerts: 4 nights, 1 stage

While the sunset concerts will be a departure from the format that audiences have come to know and love, organisers are committed to creating a joyful celebration of WOMADelaide’s 29-year history and place in Adelaide’s renowned summer festival season.

“After regular consultation with SA Health over many months, it has become clear, in light of the global pandemic, that it would not be possible to present the full festival across seven stages in Botanic Park.” said Scobie

“Our priority is the safety of our audiences and artists, and the concert series set-up – with one spectacular stage, limited capacity and reserved seating – will enable us to proceed in a COVID safe manner approved by SA Health.”

The WOMADelaide 2021 Sunset Concerts Series line-up will be announced in the coming weeks.
