Aussies Pitch Their Tents for Kids Facing Cancer
Tents will so be springing up in bedrooms, living rooms, and backyards across Australia as leading children’s cancer charity Camp Quality launches its innovative ‘Camp In’ for kids facing cancer.
Registrations are now open for the first-ever ‘Camp Quality’s Camp In’ on Saturday 4 July, an ideal ‘at home’ activity with an important cause: to change the cancer story for kids and their families.
Funds raised will help Camp Quality support kids and their families facing cancer with services and programs in hospital, at school, at home and away from it all such as Kids’ Camps, Family Camps, Family Fun Days, the Camp Quality Puppet Program, Retreats, educational apps and online resources.
Ambassador Jo Stanley said she’ll be pitching a tent in the living room and camping in with 11 year old daughter Willow, husband Darren and Daisy the Labrador.
“Isolation has given us all a small taste of what these kids with suppressed immune systems live with every day.
“Camp Quality’s Camp In is a great, fun way to get the whole family involved in raising funds so kids facing cancer get the chance to be kids again.
“We’re very excited to be a part of it. Let’s hope we can toast our marshmallows without setting off the smoke alarm!” she said.
Other Camp In ambassadors include mummy blogger Michelle Alan, and South Aussie’s Pippa Wanganeen and radio and TV personality Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello.
Camp in for Camp Quality is proudly supported by ALDOI and the first 1,000 participants who fundraise $100 will receive a $20 ALDI voucher to shop for their Camp In Survival Pack.
Cancer doesn’t stop for COVID-19 so neither can we
CEO Deborah Thomas said now more than ever these kids need our help.
“Cancer doesn’t stop for COVID-19 so neither can we,” said Ms Thomas. “Over 7,000 Camp Quality kids are now waiting for the fun and safety of a Camp Quality program. We are currently getting ready to restart our Camps and Family Fun Days to help our kids impacted by cancer, relieve the stress and anxiety of this heightened level of isolation.”
About Camp Quality
Camp Quality gives kids facing cancer the chance to be kids again.
Camp Quality’s services and programs are created specifically to help children 0-13 years of age, who are dealing with their own cancer diagnosis or the diagnosis of someone they love, such as a brother, sister, mum or dad. By creating positive memories, Camp Quality helps change the cancer story for kids and their families, in-hospital, at home, at school and away from it all.
During this challenging time, Camp Quality is delivering services and programs ‘at home’ and ‘in hospital’ online with Camp Quality’s Happiness Hub – a digital dose of positivity, the Camp Quality Puppets live on social media and via our apps, Kids’ Guide to Cancer and the New Normal Navigator.
