The holiday season is almost here, and Festive at Flinders on Saturday, 14 December is the perfect event to get the entire family into that holiday mood. The team at Flinders University has put together a program so fun-filled it’s hard to get your head around, but don’t panic, we’ve decided to give you a helping hand!
Here are our four top tips for fun at Festive at Flinders.
Start early! Whether you’re old or young at heart, there’s something special about The Grinch, and Festive at Flinders is kicking off the fun with a special screening from 3pm. There’s also be roving performers adding a spark of magic to Flinders Plaza,
Get some goodies packed with goodness. Celebrate the sustainability of slow fashion and slow gifts at Flinders Christmas Markets. Do your part for the planet and support local artists and vendors by choosing gorgeous clothes and gifts that have been created with as many local products as possible.
Feed your fun. If your tummy is rumbling, Flinders Food Trucks are trundling! You’ll have the chance to nibble your way through an incredible selection of tasty treats, with plenty of healthy vegan and vegetarian options.
Get your groove on. Your eyes will sparkle, your ears will tingle and your feet will be tapping all night as Festive at Flinders lines up some amazing artists. Enjoy the fusion of ancient traditional and contemporary Aboriginal dance, song and storytelling by award-winning group Yellaka, followed by the uplifting sounds of the Tutti Arts Choir. Get up and dance to Adelaide’s premier samba bands, dancers and drummers; Jambu Loco, Sambatuka and Las Chicas Bomba. Discover why Aria-award-winning musician Peter Combe is an Adelaide favourite and absolute legend, then get ready for your jaw to drop at the incredible skills of renowned cabaret artist Ali McGregor, before the big guy in red shows up to wish everyone a merry Christmas.
