The Royal Croquet Club returns to the beautiful Riverside location Tarnda Womma/Pinky Flat for Adelaide Fringe 2018.

This years refined program boasts a brilliant lineup featuring local and Australian performers as well as acts from Ethiopia, the US, and UK within four venues, Big River Motel, Grand Auditorium, Empire Theatre and Plaza Parlour. The exceptional performance program covers the best in circus, comedy, drag, cabaret, theatre and music and promises to have something for everyone.

Another key attraction will be the Big River Motel, an experiential outdoor concert series which will host an array of international and Australian headliners, along with key bespoke performances from all the artists of the RCC.

Come for a visit, stay for a show, down by the river.

Circus Abyssinia

Ethiopians Bibi & Bichu and the Konjowoch Troupe are sure to wow audiences in their Australian premiere. In an unashamedly joyful mix of astounding stunts and enchanted adventure, this show is the magical journey of two little Ethiopian brothers (Bibi and Bichu) whose dream of joining the circus is made real by the Man in the Moon.
They encounter a host of other circus dreamers: with daredevil stunts, breathtaking acrobatics, feats of juggling, dance and sinuous contortion, all weaving tales of their own.

Midnight Marauders

Join cabaret’s international riot girl Carla Lippis at her pop-up club for a series of raucous late night after-parties. Get loose, get down and enjoy curated performances from her pick of the Fringe.

Specially commissioned by the Royal Croquet Club, Adelaide’s inimitable diva of destruction Carla Lippis presents a late-night sleazy rumble in the intimate Plaza Parlour: this is Midnight Marauders. Presenting a selection of acts from across the fringe each night, with a live house band playing everything from The Cramps to David Bowie, from Iggy Pop to Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Expect voodoo glam, filthy comics, go-go dancing drag high-campery and a schlock rockin’ good time.

Jelly or Jam 

Have you ever seen 3 giant blocks of jelly – wobbly, jiggly and strong enough to stand on? From award-winning local and international circus creators, Jascha Boyce and Joren Dawson, Jelly or Jam is an acrobatic adventure that will inspire every young person to be themselves and engage actively with the world. Through acrobatics and physicality the solidity of 3 giant blocks of jelly will be tested as they are squished, sliced, jiggled and dropped from great heights until they are destroyed. Swamp Juice

Bickering snails, opera singing mice and neurotic snakes: welcome to a swamp like no other. Using shadow puppets made from bits of rubbish, Bunk Puppets present a gurgling adventure about one man’s walk in a swamp. A delightful and imaginative approach to shadow puppetry where the audience get to see how household objects are transformed into live cartoons. Not just for kids, everyone gets a pair of glasses to watch the 3D shadow puppet finale
