Parenting Matters Workshop with Mark Le Messurier

Our understanding of neurodiversity is evolving rapidly, and this November, one of South Australia’s most respected voices in education and counselling is here to help families keep up.
Join local teacher, counsellor, author and public speaker Mark Le Messurier at the next Parenting Matters Workshop on Wednesday 4 November from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Grange Baptist Church, 47 Beach Street, Grange.
This workshop explores the shift towards neuro-affirming approaches to supporting neurodivergent children, including those with autism and ADHD, moving beyond deficit-based thinking to recognise the strengths, needs and lived experiences of neurodivergent young people. Through research, case studies, storytelling and practical resources, topics covered include the autism spectrum, language, masking, the double empathy problem and how to create environments where neurodivergent children feel understood, accepted and free to be themselves.
You will leave with fresh perspectives, useful resources and a deeper understanding of how to better support neurodivergent young people at home, at school and in the community.
Bring the kids along too! A free supervised kids’ program runs alongside the workshop, with craft activities, games and childminders for preschoolers. All volunteers are Working with Children certified. Snacks and supper are provided for adults.
Tickets are $15 per family. Register via Try Booking.
