G&S Fest
Join State Opera South Australia in a celebration of the founding fathers of British comedy opera, Gilbert & Sullivan! G&S Fest is the only event of its kind in the southern hemisphere and brings together some of the best bits of very British humour and song over two action-packed weekends in May.
Audiences can delight in the very best of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most sought after shows. Come alive in Pirates of Penzance, one of the most popular operetta’s ever written with a star-studded cast, including Ben Mingay as the ‘Pirate King’. Enchanting audiences since 1878, Gilbert & Sullivan’s wildly-popular H.M.S. Pinafore promises endearing characters, memorable tunes and a rollicking good time. Did you ever think the Supreme Court could provide justice, and good humour? Get ready for Trial by Jury, one of the most witty shows Adelaide has ever seen! Kick back and relax as an audience member, or perhaps you want to dive right in and be a part of it? The choice is yours to make.
But it doesn’t end there! Come and enjoy the other events this festival will boast, including: Big Sing: The Sorcerer (21 May); Lads & Lasses Long Lunch (21 May); Mad Songs of Englishmen (14 May); G&S on Film (14 and 21 May); Sacred Sullivan (14 May); and G&S Quiz Night (15 May).
