20 of the best free things to do at this year’s Royal Adelaide Show Approximately half a million people visit the Royal Adelaide Show each year to spectate, go on rides, visit the animals, enter competitions and much more. The Royal Adelaide Show really has something for everyone big and small! Better yet there is bucketloads of fun to be had for FREE! We have compiled a list of 20 of the best FREE things to do at this year’s Royal Adelaide Show. 1. BankSA #AGSPLORERS Track This is a fun way for the kids to learn about farm animals and agriculture. Follow the BankSA # AGSPLORERS Track around the Show and go into the daily draw to win a family value pack to the 2018 Show. Where: starting at the BankSA Farmyard Nursery (F14) When: From 9am daily 2. Lights – Camera – Action! Performed four times daily, this musical extravagant will take show-goers on a whimsical adventure at the movies. Where: Goyder Stage (N5) When: 11am, 1pm, 3pm & 6pm daily 3. Woodcutting Always a Show favourite, be sure to check out the amazing skills of woodcutters from across Australia and New Zealand. Where: Isuzu Ute Woodcutting Arena (D12) When: from 9.30am daily 4. Free Wi-fi Need some extra data to upload your Show selfies? Pay a visit to the Advanced Technology Pavilion to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. While you’re there, check out the 3D printer and a McLaren F1 Car on display. Where: Advanced Technology Pavilion (B6) When: from 9am daily 5.  The Enchanting Smurfs Villiage In an exciting new endeavour, check out this fun and free chill-out area designated for pre-schoolers, young children and those young at heart. Where: Kid’s Carnival (N3) When: 11am – 5pm daily 6. The Learning Centre Pat a pig, hold a baby chick or see demonstrations on the Learning Centre stage. This place is all about kids learning and engaging with farm animals. Where: The Learning Centre (D10) When: 9am – 5pm daily 7. Royal Adelaide Art Prize See the talented works of local artists on display in South Australia’s biggest art prize. You can even vote for your favourite piece and go into the running to win a Wallis Cinemas Double Gold Pass. Where: Goyder Pavilion (O6) When: 9am – 8pm daily 8. Milk a cow Visit the Legendairy Milking Barn to learn about South Australia’s dairy industry and get the chance to try your hand at milking a cow. Where: Legendairy Milking Barn (I16) When: 10am, 11.30am, 1pm, 3pm & 4.30pm daily 9. Archives Museum Discover the history of the Royal Adelaide Show and learn more about the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia. You can even see cart 13 of the Mad Mouse. Where: Archives Museum (E9) When: 9am – 5pm daily 10. Pet Centre Whether it has feathers, fur or scales, you’ll find it in the Pet Centre. Take a break and enjoy the entertainment on the Pet Centre stage, including Cool4Kids’ Amazing Animal Adventures. Where: Pet Centre (E6) When: 9am – 7pm daily 11. Foodies Where there’s agriculture, there’s food. Sample some of Australia’s finest delicacies in the Foodland Pavilion, Goyder Pavilion or the Dairy Food Hall. Where: Foodland Pavilion (D8), Goyder Food & Wine (N6) and Dairy Food Hall (B8) When: 9am – 8pm daily 12.Farm VR experience firsthand what it takes for their food to get from paddock to plate through a new virtual reality experience at this year’s Show, presented by Spring Gully. Horticulture Celebrate the importance of bees with Sophie Thomson’s garden display, stare at a scarecrow made by local schools and kindergartens and create a virtual garden for yourself to improve your wellbeing at the interactive Plant Life Balance display. Where: Goyder Pavilion (N4) When: 9am – 8pm daily 14. Golden North Stage Located next to Hamilton Boulevard, this new stage features a great range of entertainment including Girl Nation, Mikayla Jade, James BuSTAR and Show favourites, the Zimbabwe Brothers. Visit the stage at 1.30pm daily to be involved in the Golden North ice-cream eating competition. Where: Golden North Stage (H7) When: from 11am daily 15. RAA Fireworks Wherever you are at the Show, finish your Show day with the RAA fireworks 90s smash hits and flame jet display! Street Parade Kicking off at 12.30pm daily, see Show mascot Wheaty McWheatface and his mascot friends in the daily street parade, let by the South Australian Police Band. Acoustic Music Grab a bite from the Kingsway multicultural food court and chill out to the tunes of Adelaide’s local up-and- coming talent. Participate in one of the nine, 20-minute educational tasting sessions on offer daily showcasing South Australian producers.
