SPOT Paediatrics teams up with local libraries for Words Grow Minds campaign

SPOT Paediatrics is joining forces with Glenelg and Brighton Libraries this August to promote the Words Grow Minds campaign from Raising Literacy Australia. This initiative encourages parents to engage in talking, reading, singing, and playing with their babies—essential activities for early childhood development.

The Words Grow Minds campaign emphasises simple yet effective strategies to integrate these activities into daily routines, aiming to build connections and support children’s growth. SPOT Paediatrics recognises that parents are their child’s first teachers but acknowledges that they may not always have the necessary tools and information. As clinicians, the team finds it rewarding to provide caregivers with the resources, knowledge, and support needed to enhance their parenting toolbox.

Key events will be held at Glenelg Library on Monday, 19th of August, from 10 to 11 am, and at Brighton Library on Thursday, 29th of August, from 10 to 11 am. Both events will feature Story Time and Toddler Time sessions, respectively. SPOT speech therapists will be on hand to chat with families, support the library activities, and offer a Q&A session for caregivers. Additionally, a free morning tea will be provided, and families will have the opportunity to sign up for library memberships.

To make the events even more exciting, there will be a free book prize raffle, and families will receive Words Grow Minds giveaway bags. Register for Story Time here and Toddler Time here, but walk-ins are also welcome.

SPOT Paediatrics is passionate about the Words Grow Minds campaign and its potential to positively impact families by promoting early literacy and communication skills. This collaboration with local libraries is a fantastic opportunity for families to learn, connect, and grow together.

Don’t miss out on these engaging and informative events—mark your calendars and join SPOT Paediatrics in supporting early childhood development.
