NEW KIDDO OUT NOW | What to see, do, love and dive into this spring

The new issue of KIDDO has landed, and it's our Food + Health issue. Which is a slightly formal way of saying we've spent the past few months thinking about what everyone in your house is eating, and whether anybody is looking after the person doing all the feeding.

Inside you’ll find the baby food brands actually worth your money, nutrition advice that works in a real kitchen on a Tuesday night, Emma G on becoming a mum at 39, Eli Moulton’s gym that finally solves the childcare problem, and a few good ideas for feeding a healthy childhood without losing your mind over it.

And because spring has arrived and Adelaide has remembered how to be outside, here’s what’s on our radar for the next few months.

SEE

The Royal Adelaide Show returns 5–13 September at the Adelaide Showground for nine days of rides, showbags, animal nurseries and fireworks. It’s been running for over 180 years and somehow still feels like the biggest date on the family calendar – get in early for showbags before the good ones sell out.

Paw Patrol movie

WATCH

PAW Patrol fans, take note! Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie lands in Australian cinemas from mid-September. The pups head to a mysterious dinosaur island, meet a stranded pup named Rex, and take on their biggest rescue mission yet when a volcano gets involved. About as close to a guaranteed win for the littlest members of the family as cinema gets.

DO

Nature Festival returns across South Australia from 25 September to 11 October, with more than 400 events blending nature and culture – guided walks, wildlife encounters, garden workshops and foraging walks made for curious kids (and equally curious grownups). Free and family-friendly events run right through, so there’s no excuse not to get outside these spring holidays.

SHOP

H&M’s kidswear collaboration with Laura Ashley is now in stores, bringing heritage florals, cheerful lemon prints and delicate shell motifs to the spring wardrobe. Think dresses, matching sets and easy separates that feel a little bit special without the dry-clean-only price tag.

My only real advice for spring is to say yes to the outside things while the weather’s on side — the park after dinner, the long way home, the walk nobody feels like starting and everyone’s glad they did. Spring in Adelaide is a short and very good window, and it goes fast.

The new issue is out now. Grab a copy, or read it online.
