Building confidence, resilience and a growth mindset

Her aim is to bring purpose to learning and help make the process rewarding; Creating a growth mindset and confidence within her students. She feels it is important to celebrate the small accomplishments, as they are the building blocks to big results.

Supporting students through safe, achievable steps

Mica Jade believes the key to learning, is building student’s confidence to explore and expand. For students to feel safe to try new activities and add new ideas to their toolkits. That there is no “one size fits all” method, instead, a collaborative approach with students and parents is needed to find the perfect fit.

When a student is overwhelmed or fearful surrounding a task at hand, pushing through is not always helpful. More often than not, a student simply needs to feel comfortable with where they’re at – without judgement. They also need to feel safe to take the leap forward towards challenges; Rather than feeling like they are launching into the unknown.

To succeed, we all need to be motivated, well practiced and capable of bouncing back from adversity… But we can do this without triggering the nervous system into overdrive or the brain into shutdown.

Initiating safe, small steps builds self trust; Overtime creating the desired resilience without the feeling of overwhelm along the way. It provides growth, but with a safety net. And, most importantly, it instills positive long term outcomes.

Learning that supports the whole child

Tutoring is not just about helping students find the answers; It also guides them to become more aware of themselves and confident in speaking up for what they need.
