What happens when students take the lead in learning?

Students who are empowered to lead, grow, and explore are not only more engaged in learning but develop into confident, independent learners who are ready to make meaningful contributions to the world.

Building The Empowered Learner

The School of the Nativity is dedicated to empowering students to take ownership of their learning. By fostering an environment that values student agency, students are actively involved in shaping their goals, reflecting on progress, and designing ways to learn.

This involvement builds a natural love of learning which is strengthened through rich experiences beyond the classroom. Using global concept planning, teachers design external learning opportunities that are thoughtfully linked to encourage critical thinking, empathy, and a deep understanding of our interconnected world.

Learning That Reflects Leadership

At the School of the Nativity, this future-focused approach prepares learners to thrive in an ever-changing global landscape. “Agency builds confident learners,” shares Principal Erika Dixon, “and creates a personal sense of achievement.”

Raising Standards To Thrive

Nurturing a community where values, curiosity, and student voice are empowered and encouraged, Nativity reaches far and wide to ensure each learner is supported. “Our vision to encourage student voice across all learning areas is lived daily. Through a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy, and innovative use of ICT, we aim for our students to achieve in the top 10%” says Erika. “By implementing programs such as Bond Blocks, Writing Revolution, and setting a Global Concept learning focus, we’ve had significant growth in student engagement in learning across all year levels.”
