St. Joseph’s Kingswood is nurturing excellence

Nestled in the heart of Kingswood, St. Joseph's School, stands as a beacon of educational excellence, guided by the values of Connection, Excellence, and Gratitude.

Inspired by the words of Mary MacKillop, “In all things, Charity,” this institution fosters a culture of compassion and giving, making it perfect for parents and carers seeking a nurturing environment for their children.

A beautiful community

St. Joseph’s Kingswood prides itself on more than just academic achievements; it cherishes a sense of belonging through its welcoming environment. Being a smaller community means they strive to know each family and together work to support the learning and wellbeing of every child in their care.

The school’s commitment to Connection, Excellence, and Gratitude sets the stage for a community where every child is empowered to become a confident learner today and an inquisitive mind of tomorrow.

Transition to Reception

One of the standout features of St. Joseph’s Kingswood is its comprehensive 18-week transition to Reception program, affectionately known as “Joeys.” The program invites children to attend one session a week in the two terms prior to commencing Reception – it is a valuable opportunity for children to form connections with friends, teachers and the physical school space.

Every Friday morning during the school term, the school hosts a vibrant playgroup. With a new theme each week, playgroup is a wonderful opportunity for family members and their child to engage in experiences in a relaxed and supported environment with the guidance of one of the school’s Reception teachers.

Visible Learning certified: Leading the way in education

St. Joseph’s Kingswood proudly holds the distinction of being the first Visible Learning certified school in South Australia. Visible Learning is based on the principle that students need to know what they are learning, and what is needed in the task to make them successful.

The Visible Learning certification signifies a commitment to evidence-based teaching and learning practices that focus on maximizing student learning and achievement. Parents can be assured that their children are receiving the highest quality education available.

A wealth of opportunities

Despite its small size, St. Joseph’s Kingswood offers an array of extracurricular activities that rival much larger schools. From Chess Club to Debating, STEM Club to a wide range of musical ensembles including Choirs, Orchestra, and Band, there is something for every child to explore and excel in.

The school’s dedication to holistic education extends to specialized programs like extension literacy and numeracy, as well as catch-up numeracy and the MultiLit Program. Additionally, students have the chance to take on leadership roles within the Student Representative Council (SRC), Eco Warrior Team, or Spirit Team.

An inclusive haven for all

St. Joseph’s Kingswood celebrates diversity and embraces children of all faith backgrounds. The school’s inclusive ethos ensures that every child feels valued and supported, fostering an environment where differences are celebrated.

Pathways to success

St. Joseph’s Kingswood is not only committed to nurturing primary education but also dedicated to preparing students for the next phase of their academic journey. With pathways to reputable high schools like Cabra and Mercedes, parents can be confident in their child’s future.
