With a goal to provide $1 million to South Australian schools over the next decade, Credit Union is making a lasting impact on the lives of young people.
Still only in its first year, Credit Union SA has already given a total of $116,000 to 30 schools across South Australia as part of the School Impact Program. The funding helps schools support important projects that benefit students and teachers. More than 360 schools across the state sent in applications this year.
The School Impact Program was created to help schools in South Australia access funding for special projects, ranging from $2,000 to $20,000. The aim is to support schools in helping students thrive, while easing the financial pressure that often falls on school communities and families.
Credit Union SA CEO, Todd Roberts, said he was thrilled with the success of the program and is proud to share the list of successful schools for 2024.
Among the schools that received funding were Elizabeth Park Primary School, Torrensville Primary School, East Marden School, and Alberton Preschool.
- Elizabeth Park Primary received $3,000 to build new fencing for an outdoor area, allowing students and their families to enjoy safe indoor and outdoor activities. This will especially help children with complex needs, offering them a safer environment to manage sensory challenges.
- Torrensville Primary was awarded funding to create a Yarning Circle. This will help students learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and culture, using traditional indigenous plants.
- East Marden School and Alberton Preschool received funding for transport costs to take students on visits to elderly residents at Lutheran Homes and for a preschool excursion, both aimed at enriching students’ learning experiences.
“This year, the School Impact Program has done exactly what it set out to do – it’s given funding directly to the schools, where the leaders really know what their community needs,” Todd said.
“It’s been an inspiring experience to see the difference this funding has made in the school communities, and the whole team at Credit Union SA is so pleased to be part of it.”
Each application was carefully reviewed by a judging panel, including a representative from the Department focation, to make sure the funding went where it would have the greatest impact.
Applications for Credit Union SA’s 2025 School Impact Program will open on 28 January 2025.
