The place to spend the ‘crafternoon’ these spring school holidays

A woman stands confidently in front of a vibrant pink door, showcasing a stylish and inviting entrance.
Tucked behind a pink door in Malvern, in a leafy pocket of Adelaide buffered by a café and a bakery, lives a studio bursting with pom poms, paint pots and party magic. Welcome to Crafternoon Co, where creativity is queen, glitter is always on standby, and fun is firmly on the agenda.

Founded by Alexis Teasdale, artist, event stylist, and “professional glitter wrangler”, Crafternoon Co is part craft studio, part party HQ, part Pinterest dream come to life. With a background in styling and a passion for all things DIY, Alexis has turned this joyful little corner of the world into a go-to destination for Adelaide families wanting to add hands-on creativity to their days, and their celebrations.

Drop-in and make something cute

During the week (and every day of the school holidays), Crafternoon Co opens its doors for casual drop-in crafting. Whether it’s a rainy-day adventure, a screen-free playdate, or just a spontaneous outing with your mini maker, kids can grab a spot at the communal craft table and dive into painting, assembling, sticking and styling.

Parents can bring coffee and snacks in from next door (bless you, bakery proximity), and parking is a breeze. It’s low-fuss, screen-free fun—without taking over your dining table at home.

Party magic, no mess at your place

Of course, the studio really shines when the balloons go up and the birthday banners come out. Crafternoon Co’s signature offering is its creative kids’ party packages, and they are next-level fun. Each two-hour celebration includes exclusive use of the studio, themed crafts, party games, experienced “Craft Captains” to run the show, digital invites, and even a cake plinth, just BYO cake!

Themes range from Rainbow and Mermaid to Swifties, Disco, Nature Lovers, and even an Art Party (meta, right?). The crafts are age-appropriate, themed to match, and completely adorable. Want extras like bedazzled sunglasses, terrarium-making or glitter tattoos? Yep, you can add those too.

Importantly, Crafternoon Co keeps its space intimate so the birthday stars can really soak up the fun. Adults are gently encouraged to relax next door with a coffee, with the team happy to help book a table or run a coffee tab so everyone’s looked after.

For the big kids (and big moments)

Crafternoon Co isn’t just for the under-10 set. The studio also hosts tween and teen parties, school holiday workshops, and even grown-up gatherings. Think: paint and sip evenings, hens days with a creative twist, or group bookings for baby showers and special occasions.

One super sweet idea? A baby shower where each guest crochets a square for a blanket for the bub-to-be. Another favourite? A “Craft & Cocktails” hens celebration, where everyone makes a keepsake to take home (along with some quality memories).

These adult events can host 10 guests and can be customised endlessly, because the Crafternoon Co team lives for a theme.

DIY at home (and still no mess for you)

Crafternoon Co also offers a range of curated DIY kits, so the fun doesn’t have to stay at the studio. These make excellent gifts, rainy-day projects, or even activities for kids’ tables at weddings or family gatherings. Alexis is constantly refreshing the range based on trends and seasons, so there’s always something new to try.

What makes it special

They’ve thought of everything: mess contained, crafts tailored to ability, and plenty of space to shine. You won’t find cookie-cutter party templates here, each event is customisable, and the team loves helping families bring quirky, fun ideas to life.

And best of all? You don’t have to clean up a thing.
