Sarah and Duck Fly South to Adelaide

SARAH & DUCK FLY SOUTH TO ADELAIDE

Following a hugely successful tour of the UK, the hit animated series Sarah & Duck is coming to Australia for the first time.

Featuring a host of wonderful characters from the BAFTA Award-winning show, Sarah & Duck’s Big Top Birthday will be brought to life on stage at Adelaide Festival Centre from 16 – 20 January.

Told through a blend of inventive puppetry, charming storytelling and toe-tapping music, the performance will feature all the familiar voices from the CBeebies series including Roger Allam as the Narrator and Lesley Nicol as Scarf Lady.

The new adventure involves Sarah and Duck, along with all their favourite friends including The Ribbon Sisters, The Shallots, John and Flamingo and Umbrella, planning a circus-themed birthday party for Scarf Lady in their garden. But when the weather turns windy and the big top is blown away, will Sarah and Duck be able to save the day?

Adelaide Festival Centre Executive Producer Cabaret & Commercial Ebony Bott said Sarah & Duck’s Big Top Birthday will take families on a magical theatrical adventure; “We are really excited to present Sarah & Duck in Adelaide during the summer holidays. The popular television show airs on ABC Kids, and we are sure the live stage adaptation will delight our family audiences.”

Following the gentle adventures of a wide-eyed, seven year old girl and her feathered best friend, Sarah & Duck has been a huge hit since its debut in 2013, winning a BAFTA for ‘Best Pre-School Animation’ in 2014, multiple Kidscreen awards and regularly appearing in CBeebies’ Top Ten programmes for viewers aged 4-15. Now in its third series, it is shown in more than 100 countries around the world, including on ABC KIDS in Australia.

Sarah & Duck’s Big Top Birthday is written by Polka Children’s Theatre artistic director Peter Glanville and Sarah & Duck co-creator Sarah Gomes Harris. It is directed by Roman Stefanski with set design by Laura McEwen. It is presented by MEI Theatrical. Sarah & Duck is a Karrot Entertainment production for CBeebies UK and BBC Worldwide.
