On Sunday April 18 the McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic will return, bringing the region alive with a grand parade of motoring history, vintage fashion, local wines, gourmet food and music.
500+ Vintage & Classic Motor Vehicles
In its 16th year, the event will see more than 500 vintage and classic motor vehicles parade along the streets of McLaren Vale against a breathtaking backdrop of wineries and vineyards.
All vehicles will begin their journey on the gorgeous open lawns located at the front of Serafino, where participants will indulge in a delicious breakfast to fuel them for the day ahead whilst also having the chance to mingle with fellow car lovers.
The Grand Parade
The Grand Parade will officially commence at 11am with all vehicles rolling out of Serafino for the 2km drive along Main Road where hundreds of spectators will line the streets setting up picnics to sit back, relax and enjoy the motorcade.
In an exciting addition, Australian supercar champion, Craig Lowndes, will be leading the parade in a classic 1960 open Corvette, with the opportunity for fans to do a meet and greet at Penny’s Hill.
Get up close and Personal
At the end of the main route, the sea of vehicles will part ways and head towards one of ten of the amazing wineries in the region, where visitors will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the motor masterpieces.
For the sports car enthusiasts, Shingleback will host an impressive display of up to eight McLarens all of which will be on show under a large marquee in front of their gorgeous cellar door.
Family Day Out
McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic Chairman, Trevor Sharp, is thrilled to kick off the 2021 event after the parade was cancelled last year due to COVID.
“We are excited for this year’s McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic event, considering we were unable to run it last year given the unprecedented circumstances,” he said.
“It’s a perfect day for the whole family to enjoy and for motor enthusiasts and the general public alike. As well as the wonderful parade of vehicles on show, visitors will also be able to enjoy the exquisite tastes of McLaren Vale’s world-class wineries, enjoying premium local wines, delicious gourmet foods and musical entertainment throughout the day, all in the picturesque surroundings of the region,” Trevor continued.
This year, participants and spectators are also encouraged to dress according to the period of their vehicle or simply their love of cars to help bring the variety of eras on show to life and have the chance to be in the running for one of the great prizes being awarded for best dressed.
