Singing in a choir isn’t just fun – it’s also really good for you!

We heard kids’ choir, Young Adelaide Voices (YAV), loves welcoming new voices to their crew! So, we thought we’d find out from YAV some of the benefits of joining a choir!

Making friends and having tun

Singing in a choir is a great way to make friends and learn how to work together. Just like in sports, kids set goals, work as a team, and enjoy having fun with others. When they’re part of a choir, they learn from their teacher and grow in a positive, supportive environment.

Enjoying music and learning about cultures

Being in a choir means singing all sorts of songs from around the world. Kids get to enjoy music from different cultures and learn about how people celebrate through song. Every rehearsal helps them appreciate music more and more, and this kind of learning stays with them forever!

Building confidence and learning new skills

Singing is an art, and it takes practice! At YAV, talented teachers help kids learn the proper breathing techniques and how to sing safely. Over time, they’ll gain confidence as they learn to control their voice and sing proudly with their friends. It’s a ‘wow’ moment when they realise how much they can do!

Boosting learning and brain power

Did you know that being in a choir helps with schoolwork too? Research shows that singing helps children improve their memory, language skills, and even Maths! These benefits will help kids throughout their school years and beyond.

Come and try!

Want your child to experience all these amazing benefits? Young Adelaide Voices is holding a ‘Come and Try’ day for kids aged five to 11! It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to start their musical adventure.
