How to entertain the kiddos at Tour Down Under

From writing letters to their favourite Tour Down Under riders to tricycle rides, this year's iconic cycling event is packed full of family fun, kicking off Friday, 17 January.      

The Kids Zone (17-25 January)

The Kids Zone at the City of Adelaide Tour Village is full of exciting things to do, including a giant TDU Connect 4, a mural you can help paint, an interactive wall, rider cards, face painting, balloon twisting, and so much more.

At the Peloton Post, kids can write letters to their favourite riders and pop them in the riders’ post box in the Team Zone.

The Kids Zone is packed with fun, hands-on activities to keep everyone busy throughout the ten days of the event, plus there’s also face painting and balloon twisting. We’ve listed the times below:

  • Friday 17 January: 4:30pm – 7pm
  • Saturday 18 January: 2pm – 6pm
  • Monday 20 January: 3pm – 6pm

Tiny Tour

For the youngest cycling fans, aged five and under, there’s a special mini racetrack where they can ride tricycles and balance bikes. It’s a FREE, fun experience just for them! Helmets are a must, and bikes and trikes can be brought from home or borrowed on the day.

Meet Oppy!

Say hello to the Santos Tour Down Under mascot, Oppy! Take lots of fun photos with Oppy and then treat your taste buds to a Tony & Mark’s cooking demonstration and some delicious fruit cups.

Parents’ Rest Zone

Mums and Dads can relax and recharge in the shaded Parents’ Rest Zone, while the kids dive into exciting activities like crafts, face painting, and more.

Get creative at the craft station!

Unleash your inner artist at the Health Partners Family Day Craft Station! There are two exciting activities for you to try:

Colour your own Oppy flag – Bring Oppy to life with your favourite colours and take home a fun keepsake to cheer on the riders.

Design your own bike keyring – Personalise a minibike keyring to show off your love for cycling.

Oppy temporary tattoos

Add a touch of cycling fun to your day with an Oppy temporary tattoo! These fun and vibrant designs featuring the Santos Tour Down Under mascot are perfect for all ages.

  • Small soft play area
  • Face painters
  • Glitter and Oppy tattoos
  • Driving Dorris
  • Food trucks
  • Ice-cream truck
  • Coffee van

Family Ride (Saturday 18 January at 4pm)

Hop on your bike and join Anna Meares OAM and her family for a fun ride around the Villawood Men’s Classic circuit!

Head over to Adelaide’s buzzing East End, where both kids and adults can ride together. Whether you’re a little one learning to pedal or an experienced rider zooming ahead, this is your chance to enjoy cycling with the whole family.

If you’re still getting the hang of it and want to keep mum or dad close by, they can ride or walk alongside you. Remember, kids aged seven and under need to have a parent or guardian with them at all times.

Your ticket includes unlimited laps around the Villawood Men’s Classic circuit, plus a Health Partners goodie bag with a T-shirt and hat!
