20,000 hot cross buns to be made
Locally made hot cross buns from Dough and Skala Artisan Bakers will be in high demand, with bakers at Dough expecting to make 20,000 of their signature sourdough hot cross buns. Handmade sugar eggs and marshmallow rabbits from The Old Lolly Shop, giant chocolate bunnies from The Adelaide Nut, and treats from around the world including European chocolates and Colomba (Italian Easter cakes) from Lucia’s Fine Foods, are just some of the Easter delights available now.
Plant based and gluten free
Shopping for plant based or gluten free is easy this Easter with a range of alternative products available across the Market. Head to Jamu for vegan chocolate, The Market Bread Bar for locally made gluten free and vegan hot cross buns or the House of Health for a range of goodies including vegan fair trade chocolate cream eggs vegan and gluten free hot cross buns. And for the home cooks, the Gewurzhaus Hot Cross Bun Spice blend will be sure to make the perfect homemade buns.
Adelaide Central Market fishmongers Cappo’s Fish Market and Angelakis Bros are gearing up for a bumper trade, with traditional Easter favourites like local Spencer Gulf Prawns, Smoky Bay Oysters, Whole Snapper, Blue Swimmer Crabs and Kingfish expected to be in high demand in the lead up. Local Southern Rock Lobster is also anticipated to be high on Easter shopping lists, with prices similar to Christmas in 2020.
Adelaide Central Market Extended Trading Hours
The Adelaide Central Market is open in the week leading up to Easter, including extended trading on Thursday 1 April until 7:00pm and first hour free parking during Market days.
Customers will be entertained with live music and free kids craft activities on Saturdays. They can also shop and go in the draw to win $1,000 in Market vouchers.
Shoppers are encouraged to continue practising good hygiene, by maintaining a safe social distance while shopping and sanitising hands at the sanitising stations located at key entrances.
