It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at David Jones

Christmas has arrived at giant department store, David Jones, as its 'Home for Christmas' campaign begins.

You know Christmas is around the corner when David Jones’ iconic Magic Cave opens! Families can now enter the Magic Cave at David Jones’ Adelaide Central Plaza store to capture photos with Santa right up until Christmas Eve.

Say cheese as family moments are created and captured as little ones meet Father Christmas. All photos will be displayed in a custom David Jones frame. The department store expects to take nearly 15,000 Santa photos nationwide this year.

Natalie Demourtzidis, David Jones Adelaide Central Plaza Store Manager, says creating special memories for families is what makes the Magic Cave so magical.

“The Magic Cave continues to enchant children, just as it has for generations. Its importance to the Adelaide community since 1896 cannot be overstated,” Natalie says.

The Magic Cave is just one part of David Jones’ Christmas celebrations, with a range of entertainment for all ages running right up until Christmas Day.

Children will also have the chance to try their hand at art. Santa PAW-traits and Sensitive Santa sessions will also return.

In-store entertainment over the coming weeks will include roving carolers and a brass band trio, spreading excitement and joy for the holiday season.

This Christmas, David Jones invites shoppers to embrace the joy, magic, and wonder of Christmas in Australia, offering the best in summer fashion, beauty products, stylish home décor, hosting essentials, and gifts for everyone.

Gift experts will be available to offer advice on the latest products, while virtual gift consultants and stylists will be available for online sessions. Customers can also explore the online gift guide to find the perfect present in seconds.

David Jones has been a proud partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) for 30 years, and this Christmas, is excited to announce NBCF as its new charity partner. Until 24 December, customers can support world-class breast cancer research by donating $2 in exchange for bespoke Christmas gift wrapping services in stores across Australia.

The Magic Cave is located on level two of David Jones Adelaide Central Plaza. Bookings for Father Christmas photos are highly recommended.

Australia Day 2026 in South Australia: Free Events Celebrate Our Shared Stories

Our Shared Stories Inspire Australia Day in South Australia The Australia Day Council of South Australia (ADCSA) has released its 2026 Australia Day FREE event program, designed to celebrate the diversity of stories that shape our nation. The program invites South Australians to reflect on what being Australian means while connecting with community, culture, and Country. ADCSA CEO Jan Chorley said: “Australia Day gives us a moment to pause and consider the many threads that shape who we are; from the world’s oldest living cultures to those who have only recently made Australia home. It is an opportunity to deepen our connection to nature and to Country, and to recognise that our stories continue to evolve. In a world that feels increasingly uncertain, one thing remains clear: we love our country – its beauty, its diversity and the people who give it life.
