A Family-Friendly Food & Wine Festival is Coming to Norwood

The Italian piazza experience coming to George Street

On Sunday 15 April the aroma of wood-oven pizza and food from local restaurants will waft through the air, as George Street Piazza is filled with joyous event goers and families eager to taste and explore local Norwood delights.

The event will be hosted by The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters and see George Street transformed into a bustling and vibrant Italian piazza (public square), paying homage to the rich Italian heritage within the area. This makes it the perfect opportunity to grab the fam or meet a friend and enjoy a celebration in a beautiful community setting.

Mayor Robert Bria said the ‘George Street Piazza’ event will build on the City’s reputation as a food destination, connecting the area’s many food and beverage manufacturers with The Parade’s iconic restaurants and cafes.

“This event is about taking people through an authentic food experience with an Italian flavour from the factory gate to the plate,” said Mayor Bria.

There will be lots to tantalise the taste buds of those young and old with local stalls such as, Quinzis Confectionery, Bravos Kitchen, The Bath, Manto Café and Selena Estate offering Italian desserts, coffee, antipasto platters, pasta and more! Patrons can also expect options from nearby manufacturers such as beverage selections from local cellar doors and craft brewers, as well as live pasta making and cooking demonstrations.

The main act will be Vogue Duo – Antonio and Kate Lara Villano playing at 2pm and 3pm, as well as solo musicians including a saxophonist, piano accordion and trumpeter. There will also be live painting from artists and caricaturists.

“Hosting a good event in George Street provides an opportunity to activate a different space within The Paradeprecinct and offer visitors a different type of experience,” said Mayor Bria.

The event will take place between 10am – 4pm on George Street, Norwood from The Parade to Webbe Street
