The Great Botanic Seed Swap and Share
Seed Swap Festival – Adelaide Botanic Garden, Sunday 11 October
Got green thumbs in the family? This one is for you.
The Seed Swap Festival returns to the beautiful Adelaide Botanic Garden on Sunday 11 October for a fun, fete-like community celebration of seeds, home gardening and all things that grow. It’s a wonderful day out for families who love getting their hands dirty – and the little ones are in for a treat.
Bring along your saved seeds to swap at the seed swapping table and leave with something new to plant at home. No seeds to share? No worries – for a small donation, you can purchase tokens to swap for seeds on the day.
There’s plenty to keep the whole family busy, including:
- Hands-on kids’ activities and nature crafts
- Plant a seed to take home
- Origami seed packet folding and native seed giveaways
- Bird snap table with the Diggers Club
- Tomato Tombola – spin to win a tomato starter kit or one of loads of other prizes
- Make a commemorative badge
- Drawing demonstrations by the Friends Botanical Art Group
- Pods Hold Stories seed drawing workshops with local artist Stephanie Doddridge (two sessions: 12:00–1:00pm and 1:30–2:30pm)
The day also features live music from 10:00am, a sausage sizzle, an ABC Radio Adelaide live outside broadcast with Jason Chong including Talkback Gardening with Sophie Thomson from 11:00am, and roving performances by Tutti Arts “The Beekeepers” from 11:30am.
Entry is free for children aged 12 and under. Adult tickets can be purchased online or on the day at the venue, subject to availability.
