Two South Australian organisations have come together to raise more than $6,000 for young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in our state.
Credit Union SA and Lucia’s have announced the results of their Partnering for Purpose initiative, with all funds going directly to St John’s Youth Services.
The numbers are sobering: more than 5,000 children and young people seek support from homelessness services in South Australia each year. It’s a reminder of why community initiatives like this matter.
How the partnership works
Since launching last November, Lucia’s has sold over 600 Partnering for Purpose hampers.
Each hamper is packed with iconic Lucia’s products including:
- Tomato sauce
- A range of soups (tomato and roasted capsicum, pumpkin and sweet potato, spiced pea and shallots)
- Salsa
- Pesto range
- A special magnet highlighting the Partnering for Purpose initiative
What the funds will do
Nicole Chaplin, CEO of St John’s Youth Services, said the funds raised will provide vital resources that empower young South Australians to build independence and thrive.
St John’s Youth Services is a South Australian not-for-profit organisation that helps young people access safe housing, develop skills, and build the confidence needed to move forward. They work across metropolitan Adelaide with young people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk.
A partnership built on community
Credit Union SA CEO Todd Roberts said the initiative reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to supporting young South Australians.
“At Credit Union SA, we are deeply committed to creating pathways for South Australians to thrive, especially our young people,” Todd said. “We’re so proud to partner with Lucia’s for this ongoing initiative, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support shown by the community, especially during the holiday season last year.”
Simon Bugeja, Managing Director of Lucia’s Australia, said the success of the campaign has raised both vital funds and awareness of youth homelessness across the state.
“The strong community response to the Partnering for Purpose initiative highlights the positive impact that can be achieved when local businesses and South Australians come together to support a shared cause,” Simon explained.
