Running from 10am to 2pm, this free community event offers kids of all ages the chance to get up close and personal with the vehicles they see on our streets, in emergencies, and on construction sites.
What to expect
This year, more than 40 impressive vehicles are expected to be on display — from council workhorses and emergency response trucks to towering construction vehicles and even a 100-year-old vintage truck. Children can hop into the driver’s seat, explore how these machines work, chat with the people who operate them, and enjoy hands-on demonstrations throughout the day. There’ll be plenty of photo opportunities, lights flashing, and horns honking — a real sensory treat for truck lovers big and small.
In addition to the fleet of council vehicles, attendees can meet teams from SAPOL, SA Power Networks, MFS, CFS, SES, SA Ambulance Service, and the Australian Defence Force, all showcasing their essential work and powerful vehicles that help keep our communities safe.
It’s not just about trucks!
There’s loads of family entertainment planned, including go karts, a ninja course, face painting, live music, roving performers, and Kaurna creek and cultural walks. Kids can immerse themselves in nature and culture, run wild with friends, or sit back and enjoy the entertainment.
When hunger strikes, there’ll be more than a dozen food trucks plus a BBQ to satisfy every appetite — or feel free to pack your own picnic and enjoy lunch in the park. Official Trucks on Tour merchandise, including mini bins, hard hats, and high-vis vests, will also be available to purchase on the day.
Families needing a quieter space will appreciate the dedicated Sensory Hour from 1–2pm, during which all loud sounds and demonstrations will be paused. A sensory refuge and quiet activity zone, hosted by Spectrum Connect Inc., will run throughout the event to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment for all attendees. The event also welcomes the return of MadieFidgets, creators of 3D-printed articulated fidgets that support focus, imaginative play, and sensory regulation.
Trucks on Tour 2025 is at Wilfred Taylor Reserve, Morphett Vale on Friday, 10 October 2025. More info at the City of Onkaparinga website.
