At Tenison Woods Catholic School, the journey into formal education begins with joy, care, and a deep respect for each child’s individuality.

With the Mid-Year Reception intake now available, families are invited to discover the Little Wonders Long Transition Program, a nurturing pathway that sets children up for lifelong learning success. This innovative program offers children the opportunity to attend school one day a week over a 6-week period, alongside their existing kindergarten or preschool schedule.

The program runs during the term prior to commencing in Reception (Term 2 or Term 4). Guided by a dedicated full-time teacher and classroom space, children experience the rhythms of school life; recess, lunch, assemblies, and community events, while developing friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging. The program is designed to foster key learning dispositions such as enthusiasm, curiosity, persistence, and cooperation, laying the foundation for academic and personal growth.

In a powerful show of support for families, Catholic Education South Australia has committed to fee-free school fees for all Mid-Year Reception enrolments, making quality education more accessible than ever. This initiative ensures that every child can benefit from the exceptional learning and wellbeing programs offered at Tenison Woods without financial barriers

Principal Ben Catalano shares, “Once a child is comfortable and confident with knowing school, their learning really flourishes.”

The Little Wonders program reflects this philosophy, offering a gentle and enriching transition that helps children thrive from day one.

The long-term benefits of starting Reception mid-year are profound. Children gain an additional six months of structured learning, social development, and exposure to the wellbeing approaches at Tenison Woods. This extended time allows for deeper engagement, stronger relationships, and a smoother progression into their schooling. It’s an investment in your child’s future – one that pays dividends in confidence, capability, and joy.

Tenison Woods Catholic School invites families to explore this unique opportunity and give their child the best possible start. With no fees, a supportive community, and a program built on love and learning, Little Wonders is where big journeys begin.
