Kai’s own journey started at age 11 when he struggled to find sensory tools that met his needs without drawing unwanted attention.
Together with his mum Jo, who has an occupational therapy background and a deep understanding of sensory needs, Kai began creating tools that could offer both comfort and discretion.
What makes Kaiko Fidgets stand out is their focus on practicality and accessibility. Their range, from textured rollers to calming necklaces, is thoughtfully designed to support mental health, ease anxiety, and improve focus, all while fitting discreetly into daily life.
The Kaiko team, largely neurodivergent themselves, brings a unique perspective to their work, focusing on products that genuinely reflect the sensory needs and tastes of adults and older teens — a market often overlooked in the world of fidgets.
With a strong sense of community, Kaiko values customer input, incorporating feedback into new designs that address specific, unmet needs.
It’s a refreshingly inclusive approach in the sensory tools market, aiming to empower individuals to use fidget tools wherever they feel they need them, without compromise.
Kaiko Fidgets shows that sensory support can be both effective and subtle, making a tangible difference for those looking to manage everyday stress and focus in their own way.
MEET KAI
Kai, who lives with anxiety and is both autistic and dyslexic, started making his own fidgets in 2017 at the age of 11.
After being teased at school for using colourful, “kiddie-like” fidgets, he was determined to create something cooler, more stylish and suitable for himself. So, he turned to metal – and soon, instead of teasing, he began receiving requests for his designs.
With the support of his parents, Kai began selling his creations at local markets. It didn’t take long to realise how great the demand was. What began as a solution for his own needs quickly evolved into a business providing sensory support to teens and adults alike.
While the success of the business is exciting, the biggest impact for Kai has been the boost in his self-esteem – a transformation that has truly changed his life.
You can find Kaiko Fidgets available for purchase online or at Imagine If Toys Burnside and Mitcham.
