Key Assets South Australia celebrated 15 years of making a difference to young lives.

Words by Amy Kane, Key Assets Australia Assistant State Director

Looking back at 15 incredible years of Key Assets in South Australia, I’m filled with so much gratitude for the dedication and pure heart our Foster and Kinship Carers give to children and young people every day.

We celebrated this huge milestone with our 15th Anniversary Gala Dinner at the Adelaide Oval, and what a night it was! It was all about honouring the amazing people who give their all to make a difference – and giving them a chance to kick back, let their hair down, and soak up some well-deserved fun.

The whole night was a perfect reflection of the of the love and support they share with so many. Jodie Oddy was an absolute legend host, and we were fortunate to have Hon. Katrine Hildyard MP and Felicity Graham, CEO of Fostering Change Australia, with us. Felicity’s truth telling words about her own experience in care and the impact of carers had everyone feeling emotional.

“The Gala Dinner was a truly unforgettable evening, enriching meaningful connections among individuals driven by a common goal, celebrating shared successes.” – Lorraine Joy, Therapeutic Foster Carer

“So much of our role as Carers is about the needs of the beautiful children entrusted in our care. In order to care well for them, we must also practice self-care too. It was so amazing to have the opportunity at the KAASA Gala to share in a wonderful celebration of fun, glam, great laughs and delicious food, all whilst connecting with others and making fantastic memories. It was truly special.” – Lauren Burke, Foster Carer

We are beyond lucky to have a community of carers who show up with open hearts and open homes, year after year.

As we celebrate this awesome 15-year journey, we know there’s still work to do. There are so many children and young people out there in South Australia who need a safe home and someone to believe in them. If you have ever considered making a difference, now is the time! We’d love for you to think about becoming a foster carer with Key Assets Australia!

To all our incredible carers: thank you, thank you, thank you! You show us every day what it means to create a home full of kindness and support.
