Summer clothes needed for South Aussie kids doing it tough

A little girl in a yellow dress joyfully holds a bucket, ready for a fun day of play and adventure.
Pulling on shorts and a T-shirt and slipping on a pair of thongs comes second nature to most of us as the warmer weather hits.

Holidays can be a reminder of what we don’t have, especially disadvantaged kids who don’t have access to basic clothing.

That’s where KickStart for Kids, a South Australian not-for-profit, steps in with its annual Camp KickStart Dec/Jan School Holiday Program. This incredible initiative provides children aged five to 13 with a fun-filled break from the everyday struggles they face, offering activities like arts and crafts, cooking classes, excursions, celebrity visits, and much more — plus transport to and from camp.

Now, with to your help, KickStart for Kids is asking for donations of new summer clothes, including bathers, shoes and more to ensure the kids can have a blast on camp.

The items needed are simple and affordable, and you can find them at stores like Kmart, Big W, and Target for as little as $3. Here’s a breakdown of the sizes and items needed:

  • Girls T-shirts – Size 8, 10, 12, 14
  • Boys T-shirts – Size 8, 10, 12, 14, 16
  • Girls Shorts & Leggings – Size 8, 10, 12, 14
