CBC students set for Tottenham Hotspur training experience in just two weeks

The excitement is palpable in the air as a select group of Christian Brothers College (CBC) students prepare to embark on an elite soccer training experience in London with none other than English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur.

With just two weeks to go, a group of sixteen aspiring athletes get to live, train and breathe like professional soccer players, participating in a jam-packed itinerary replicating a week of training at the Club’s state-of-the-art Training Centre.

The itinerary offers students a unique blend of high-level training with drills on the pitch, fitness testing in the gym, competitive matches with partner schools, and nutrition workshops.

“It will be an unreal experience, having the chance to learn from Tottenham Hotspur’s Football Academy coaches for an entire week and getting to train in the same facilities as their First Team” says CBC soccer student attending the trip, Brock M.

All components of the itinerary are designed to provide insight into how Tottenham Hotspur supports its players to reach their peak athletic performance.

“I am excited to experience first-hand a Premier League level of soccer training in London with one of the world’s best clubs”, says a CBC soccer student attending the trip, Matias A.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will not only support their personal and character development and soccer skills but also provide invaluable life experiences that can open doors to different career paths within the field.

“This trip will be an opportunity for myself and my teammates to showcase our talent and learn from some of the best” says CBC soccer student attending the trip, Oscar M.

CBC students benefit from a rich pool of expertise, not only from CBC’s staff, including former Adelaide United player Marcelo Carrusca but also from the coaching staff at Tottenham Hotspur’s Football Development Academy.

“Each year, we will have a Tottenham Hotspur Football Development Coach join us in Adelaide for the entirety of Term 2 to work with our students across the Junior and Senior Campuses as part of our Soccer Program”, says CBC Principal Mr David Johnston.

CBC brings a world of opportunities to its students, designed to broaden horizons and offer real world experiences, leaving them inspired and better equipped for future career prospects.

Daniel Mitchell, Global Football Development Coordinator at Tottenham Hotspur, said, “We are hugely excited to be hosting players from Christian Brothers College at our Training Centre next month. Following the success of our coach Gerald Lami’s programme in Adelaide earlier this year, this was the natural next step for our partnership, which continues to go from strength to strength.”

The Tottenham Hotspur Global Football Development Programme works closely with the Club’s Academy and Women’s Junior Talent Pathway to provide individual progression pathways for players of all development levels.

Player development is at the heart of the Club and The Global Development team impact over 45,000 players and coaches annually, as well as demonstrating year-on-year growth. Technical sessions are delivered by FA and UEFA-qualified coaches who take inspiration from the Club’s Men’s and Women’s First Team training methods to help develop every player that takes part on the programmes.
