Tottenham Hotspur Football Development Coach Gerald Lami’s time at Christian Brothers College successfully concludes

With the conclusion of the 12-week visit by Tottenham Hotspur’s Football Development Coach, Gerald Lami, to Christian Brothers College (CBC), we are delighted to announce that under his expertise and guidance, the CBC Soccer Program has risen to new heights.

Lami shared his extensive knowledge and instilled the Spurs’ Philosophy into CBC’s training and Soccer Program, leading to significant positive outcomes for students, staff and the wider CBC community.

During this period, students engaged in a series of soccer training sessions, skill development and theory workshops all under the direction of Coach Lami. Additionally, CBC staff and coaches benefited from professional development sessions conducted by Lami, enhancing their coaching abilities, training methods, and strategic understanding of the game.

Parents also got to hear directly from Coach Lami about Tottenham Hotspur’s influence on the CBC Soccer Program during our Soccer Parent Information Evening which outlined the opportunities and pathways that are available for students who enrol in the program.

Lami noted in his findings that the program has yielded several positive outcomes, including improvement in students’ overall physical fitness, skills and knowledge of the game, understanding of the importance of teamwork and leadership, and overall interest in the sport.

“We are thrilled with the positive impact Gerald has had on the students at CBC. The improvement in their skills is outstanding, and we look forward to seeing more positive outcomes as our partnership with Tottenham Hotspur continues,” said David Johnston, CBC Principal.

In addition to the program, CBC also hosted the very successful CBC + Tottenham Hotspur Holiday Soccer

Clinics throughout the Term 2 school break. These clinics provided boys and girls from both CBC and the wider community with the opportunity to gain insight into the CBC Soccer Program and have access to premier soccer training.

Focusing on the development of younger students from Reception to Year 7, the clinics saw high attendance and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and parents.

“The Tottenham Hotspur Coach was absolutely fantastic. Not only did he have an incredible coaching ability, but he was also personal and friendly with the participants who absolutely adored him. I will recommend it to everyone,” said a parent of a student who attended the clinics.

The College is saddened to see Coach Lami depart but eagerly anticipates next year when we will welcome another member of the Tottenham Hotspur Football Development Program to continue Gerald’s impactful work.

“My time at CBC has been extremely rewarding, and I am thrilled to have applied Tottenham Hotspur’s Academy methods to the program, enhancing the development of CBC’s football [soccer] players,” says Tottenham Hotspur Football Development Coach Gerald Lami.

The Tottenham Hotspur Global Football Development team impacts circa 45,000 players and coaches annually and demonstrates year-on-year growth.

Technical sessions are delivered by the club’s FA and UEFA-qualified coaches who take inspiration from its Men’s and Women’s First Team training methods to help develop every player that takes part in the programmes.
