Adelaide Festival Centre is the place to be these April school holidays with an array of fantastically fun workshops and entertainment for children of all ages.
School Holidays Program
The ever popular On Stage Performing Arts Program returns these school holidays with two amazing performing arts workshops presented in association with award winning South Australian acrobatics and physical theatre company Gravity & Other Myths, and local theatre educator Tamara Lee Collins.
Students (aged between 10 and 17) will learn the principles of physical acrobatic skills by the incredible team at Gravity and Other Myths in the Physical Theatre and Acro 5-day Intensive from Monday 15 to Friday 19 April. The intensive 5-day workshop will see students develop new skills in physical theatre and movement, which can be used to further develop storytelling and narrative in performance.
The other workshop is the Character and Story Development 2-Day Theatre Workshop (aimed at ages 8 to 13) at Adelaide Festival Centre from Tuesday 16 to Wednesday 17 April. Over two thrilling days, children will engage in theatre activities that guide them into the magical world of storytelling, narrative and character development. Participants will work with the talented Tamara Lee and team to bring characters to life. This intensive workshop provides a safe and supported environment to explore and grow as a performer building confidence while making new friends.
These popular school holiday programs are loved by students and parents who appreciate the stress free drop off and pick up times. No prior experience or auditions are required and registrations close for both On Stage workshops on 11 April 2024.
Entertainment for all ages
The family fun continues when witches, dogs, cats, dragons, frogs and birds come to life on the stage at Adelaide Festival Centre’s Dunstan Playhouse.
Award winning CDP Kids return with songs, laughs and spooky fun for children aged 3 and up (and their grownups) with Room on the Broom (17-21 April), in the magical musical adaption for stage of the much-loved children’s book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffer.
Children aged 6 and over can laugh along in the epic musical adventure Dog Man the Musical (23 – 28 April) adapted from the hilariously popular Dog Man series of books by Dav Pilkey.
The entertainment continues after the school holidays with shows including Windmill Theatre Company’s critically acclaimed production about life’s biggest mysteries, Creation Creation (3 – 11 May), the award winning comedy which pays homage to all seven Harry Potter books Potted Potter: The Unauthorised Harry Experience – A Parody by Dan and Jeff (8 – 12 May) , Come and Try Cabaret Day (19 May) and Young Plant Carers Exhibition (29 March – 19 May)
