NPSP has Christmas all Wrapped Up

NPSP has Christmas all Wrapped Up!

The much-loved Norwood Christmas Pageant returns on Saturday 24 November amid a variety of free Christmas events, activities and attractions for residents and visitors to enjoy.

“Christmas in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is always magical and the events hosted by the Council will ensure it’s a great time for everyone,” said Lisa Mara, General Manager, Governance and Community Affairs.

“The Norwood Christmas Pageant is by far our most popular event and is the perfect launch for more than one month of special events and Christmas activities.”

Ms Mara said that following its great success in 2017, the Movie on the Oval will return this year with a screening of Saving Santa on Norwood Oval.

“During what is a very busy season, this is a great opportunity for families and friends to share in a relaxing evening under the stars.”

A popular feature on the City’s Festive calendar, Twilight Carols will also return to Linde Reserve, Stepney on Friday 7 December, featuring seven piece swing band Lucky Seven, and a cappella group 60 Four who will treat the audience to a trip back to the swinging 60s.

Osmond Terrace will again be transformed into an outdoor gallery of wooden Christmas Trees for the Festive Gallery on Osmond.

Children from 16 local schools will be decorating 62 six-foot tall wooden Christmas trees to be displayed on the Osmond Terrace median strip from 20 November 2018 until 2 January 2019.

“The trees have been a popular destination and it’s been great to see even more schools embrace and participate in this great initiative in 2018,” said Ms Mara.

Christmas lights are always an attraction and the Council will again install three six-metre tall Christmas Trees in the median strip on The Parade, in front of the Norwood Town Hall with some new illuminated lighting. Residents of Ninth Avenue (from Royston Park to St Peters) also install an impressive display of lights and decorations over the festive period.

“We know that Christmas can be difficult for many families, so the Council is again collecting books as part of Give the Gift of Reading and we encourage all residents to participate by donating a book for someone in need.”

Books can be donated at the Norwood Town Hall and Council libraries, as well as donating non- perishable food to the Salvation Army or St Vincent de Paul on The Parade, Norwood.
