Adelaide Fringe review: FoRT

Two people sitting in a tent, wrapped in a blanket, creating a cozy atmosphere.
KIDDO reviewer, Lucy, took her two girls to see FoRT at The Garden of Unearthly Delights. There's still time to book your last-minute tickets to the show!

After a scorching hot Saturday, I couldn’t wait to get into the cool air-conditioning of The Factory at the Garden of Unearthly Delights for FoRT. And honestly, it was exactly what we needed – the perfect escape from the heat and a great way to spend time as a family!

FoRT is all about imagination and turning everyday things into something extraordinary. A broomstick turns into a unicorn, a couch becomes a mountain, and a sheet turns into a tent. It’s the kind of creative fun that reminds you of when you were a kid, building cubbies and pretending the world was full of adventure.

My seven-year-old was completely glued to the stage. She was laughing and amazed as the performers did acrobatics and physical comedy, transforming ordinary objects into magical places.

It was cool to see her so excited and lost in the world they created.

My five-year-old, who’s a little more fidgety, did get a bit restless towards the end, but that’s just how it goes with younger kids.

The show was about 50 minutes, which felt just right – any longer in the heat and I think we would’ve all been a bit much!

The air-con in the venue was a lifesaver, too – we were nice and cool the whole time.

The performers were amazing, with some impressive acrobatics and funny moments that kept the kids entertained. The use of lighting and music was clever, making each scene feel special.

After the show, we ended up building our own forts at home – the kids turned the couch, an umbrella and a sheet into a cubby and made up all sorts of adventures. It’s that kind of show that sparks creativity and wonder, long after it’s finished.

If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly show that will make everyone smile, FoRT is a great choice. It’s simple, fun, and will leave you with a sense of magic and imagination.
Definitely one to check out if you’ve got little ones.
